SEMS
Systainable Energy Management Systems
24 partners from seven countries have merged within the EU-project SEMS, aiming at the sustainable, energetic development of the participating regions. Within the four smaller-sized core communities: Weilerbach (DE), City of Tulln (AT), Canton of Redingen (LU) and City of Slubice (PL) concrete implementations are planned within the frame of the project.
All of the SEMS communities are situated in rural areas and have 14 – 20,000 inhabitants.
The aim of the project is CO2- neutrality of the energy supply system preferably on the basis of regional energy sources. The management of regional available renewable energy sources, of energy efficiency strategies, of communication between key actors in the community, of a broad technical implementation.
SEMS communities are largely characterised by a high number of private one-family houses. In each of the communities an Energy Change Manager is engaged with the challenge to create an active CONCERTO atmosphere among all residents for a significant energy demand reduction and an increased usage of renewable energies.
Beside the numerous activities in the CONCERTO communities there is a superior level of management: The software of a Decentralised Energy Management System will allow to explore an additional energy efficiency potential for local and inter-communal operation, monitoring and control of energy consumption, storage and generation units and grids, including DSM and LCP.
SEMS started in June 2007 and will end in May 2012.
