Montieri, Italy
Montieri is situated in the Tuscany region in Italy. The medieval town has a relevant number of houses to be renovated. The town rises 704 meters above the sea level, presenting a number of degree-days amounted to 2.500, and a conventional length of the heating season for 14 hours daily for a period between October 15 and April 15, for a total 182 days per year. The Montieri Geothermal Community Project will focus in the town as a whole.
The CONCERTO approach
The main Concerto activities at Montieri are:
Use of Renewable Energy Sources
Low Carbon Technologies
Highlights
With the help of the innovative technological solutions the feasibility of tapping into medium enthalpy resources will be demonstrated. In the project number of dwellings served by the district heating is 425, with a total heated volume of 110,000 m3. The value of energy required and produced by the geothermal system is estimated to be 5,500 kW (20,000 GJ).
