The full title of the project is the ‘Optimal balancing of demand and supply through RES in urban areas’. The overall objective of the TetraEner project is to optimise the balance of community supply and demand, through the application of energy efficiency (EE) measures and increase in the use of renewable energy sources (RES), combined with adequate storage systems and intelligent management.

The two main communities (San Sebastian and Geneva) and the associated one (Frankfurt) participating in the TetraEner project can offer a series of synergies with regard to the priorities set in the CONCERTO initiative. These include: large scale integration of renewable energy sources, eco-buildings, poly-generation, intelligent energy management and supply assurance.

The TetraEner project includes a number of research actions needed for the right design of the demonstration installations:

  • Development of a continuous monitoring system with data transmission over the power line.
  • Development of a computer model that will simulate the system performances, monitor its efficiency and analyse its sensitivity to uncertain parameters such as water temperature variations, cost variations, and additional users.
  • Development of a methodology for environmental and energy district planning
