BUILDING ENERGY EFFICIENCY
The Antondegi complex in San Sebastian contains around 4,030 homes with an average floor area of 80 m2. Construction of the
blocks is geared towards achieving the maximum energy rating that can be
awarded by CADEM (a body dependent on the Basque Government which is
responsible for assessment and awarding of the energy certificate for homes).
The buildings will receive the
‘Type A’ energy rating awarded by CADEM reflecting a saving of 40%compared
with the consumption of a building which complies strictly with current
legislation.
In order to achieve this ‘Type
A’ certification and improve the daily use made of the facilities by the future
residents, the buildings will include improvements in several aspects:
- Reduction of the energy
consumption in heating involves the use of Passive solar architecture, the
optimisation of insulation by significantly reducing the losses through
windows by fitting low pemissivity panes and the use of control and
monitoring systems.
- Reduction in the energy
consumption in Domestic Hot Waters (DHW) involves the installation of
thermostatic taps in baths, the Installation of flow reducers and the replacement
of baths with showers.
MANAGEMENT
The use of control and
monitoring systems and an awareness campaign through the energy monitoring
display located in each one of the homes also leads to a reduction in the
energy consumption. The residents of the area will be partially owner of this system
via an ESCo (Energy Service Company).
The energy project in San Sebastian offers a range of innovative and differentiated aspects which will make it
possible to turn a housing complex into a reference point, which can be
replicated in other projects developed in the area in the future. |
